Fourth Korean Pitcher Makes Majors Debut

becoming the fourth Korean pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) following Park
Chan-ho (LA Dodgers), Cho Jin-ho (Red Sox), and Kim Byung-hyun (Arizona
Diamondbacks). He also becomes the first person to play in the major leagues of
Korea, Japan and the U.S.. As Cy Young Award winner Pedro Martinez went on the
15-day disabled list on Thursday with an injury, the Red Sox decide to call Lee
Sang-hoon from Triple-A Pawtucket of the minor league.
Lee, who succeeded the mound after starting pitcher Tim Wakefield in the 8th, had a
solo home run scored off him by Jeff Conine and another hit by the following player,
leaving the final inning to John Wasdin. The Red Sox won by 12 to 4.
